How can you tell if a magnet is a neodymium magnet?

1) Magnetic strength

The magnetic force of neodymium magnet is three times higher than ferrite magnet with the same size.So neodymium magnet is much more powerful than ferrite magnet.

2)Surface

The neodymium magnets commonly have sliver color and smooth surface if they are plated with nickel.Some have light blue colors and smooth surface if the neodymium magnets are plated with zinc.Some have black colors and smooth surface if the neodymium magnets are plated with Nickel +epoxy.

But the ceramic magnets have only black and rough surface because they are not plated.
